HOOVER, Ala. (AP) — Jared Poche pitched 6 2/3 strong innings and Michael Papierski drove in three runs as LSU snapped Mississippi State's 12-game winning streak by beating the Bulldogs 6-2 in the Southeastern Conference Tournament in a game that ended early Friday.
LSU, which has won 14 of its last 15, advanced to Saturday's semifinals. The Tigers (42-17) face the winner of Friday's game between Mississippi State (41-15-1) and Florida (45-12).
LSU twin brothers Beau Jordan and Bryce Jordan combined to go 4 for 6 and score three runs. Antoine Duplantis added three hits.
Poche (7-4) held Mississippi State scoreless for the first six innings as LSU built a 4-0 lead. Mississippi State scored twice in the seventh, but Papierski hit a two-run single in the bottom half of the inning.
Parker Bugg provided 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief for his fourth save.
Mississippi State's Dakota Hudson (9-4) allowed four runs - two earned - in five innings.
