DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Edgar Michelangeli's three-run homer in the top of the ninth helped Miami rally past North Carolina State 8-7 on Thursday night at the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.

Brandon Lopez homered and drove in two runs and Bryan Garcia earned his school-record 40th career save to help the top-seeded Hurricanes (45-10) improve to 2-0 in pool play.

Miami trailed 7-5 before Randy Batista walked with one out in the ninth and Jacob Heyward singled off Tommy DeJuneas (2-3). Michelangeli then hit the first pitch he saw from DeJuneas over the 32-foot wall in left field.

N.C. State's Evan Mendoza and Joe Dunand each singled off Garcia in the ninth before the Miami closer struck out Brock Deatherage and got Andrew Knizner to ground out to end it.

Chance Shepard homered and finished with four RBIs for the fifth-seeded Wolfpack (34-20). They fell to 0-2 in the tournament.
