RENO, Nev. (AP) — UNLV third baseman Kyle Isbel has been named the Mountain West Conference co-freshman of the year.

League officials also announced Wednesday that Rebels junior pitcher D.J Myers and sophomore outfielder Payton Squier made the all-conference second team, along with Nevada outfielder TJ Friedl.

Friedl, a sophomore from Pleasanton, California, ranked second in the conference and 21st in the nation with a .391 batting average.

Isbel, who batted .336 and led the league with five triples, shares the freshman honors with Air Force third baseman Nic Ready. The Fontana, California native is only the second UNLV freshman to earn a piece of the award, joining Joe Wickman, who won it in 2002.

Isbel also made the all-conference second team along with UNLV senior pitcher Ben Wright, and Nevada's junior second baseman Miles Mastrobuoni and sophomore first baseman Jordan Pearce.
