DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Gabe Levin scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Long Beach State held on for 57-48 win over UC Davis on Saturday night for its fifth-straight victory.

Levin was 7 of 12 from the field for the 49ers (14-12, 8-3 Big West Conference). Nick Faust added 12 points and eight rebounds. The team hit 36 percent from the field overall, 82.4 percent from the line and had a 39-30 rebounding edge over UC Davis.

A slow start for both teams resulted in an 8-8 tie midway through the first period. Faust dunked to give the 49ers the lead with 5:28 left in the half and they held it for a 25-16 edge at halftime.

In the second half, UC Davis kept pace early but a Levin dunk sparked an 8-4 surge for a 53-47 LBSU lead with 3:26 remaining.

Josh Fox scored 20 points for the Aggies (10-14, 5-6).
