POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) — Sophomore Calvin Crawford, who missed the first nine games of the season, scored a career-high 22 points as Manhattan held off Marist 81-73 Saturday night.

The 6-foot-8 Crawford started a 9-2 run that expanded a one-point halftime lead to 48-42 a little more than three minutes in. A Zane Waterman layup made it 52-44 with 13:30 left to play. Shane Richards made a 3-pointer for a 59-48 lead with 8:16 to go. Richards and RaShawn Stores scored 18 points each for Manhattan.

Marist's Brian Parker scored 19 points — 12 in the last 1:26 — to lead Marist (5-19, 2-13). When Richards turned the ball over coming out of a timeout, Parker scored to pull Marist within 76-71 with 40 seconds left.

Stores made four free throws to ice the win.

Marist turned the ball over 13 times. Manhattan's pressure defense is ranked 14th nationally with 16.0 turnovers per game.
