Coppin State rolls to 90-66 win over Howard

BALTIMORE (AP) — Christian Kessee scored 27 points as Coppin State rolled to a 90-66 win over Howard on Saturday, snapping a four-game slide.

Kessee was 11 of 14 from the field including five 3-pointers for the Eagles (6-18, 4-7 Mid-Eastern Conference). Josh Treadwell added 26 points, Trevon Seymore had 14 and Terry Harris had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Kessee opened the game with a 3-pointer and Coppin State led all the way and had a 42-29 advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Eagles went up by 22 points, 59-37, their biggest lead of the game, on a Treadwell 3-point play with 12:03 to go.

The Eagles were 53 percent from the field overall, 70.6 percent from the line and made 28 points in the paint compared to 16 for Howard.

James Daniel scored 28 points for the Bison (10-15, 4-6) who have lost five straight.
