KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Dashawn King scored 17 points and Kyle Steward added 15 to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a dominating 75-58 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Saturday.
LaVell Boyd, who started the game with two straight treys, had 14 points. Shayok Shayok had 11 and 12 rebounds for UMKC (10-15, 3-7 Western Athletic Conference).
The Kangaroos started fast and matched their largest halftime lead of the year, 38-26. They stretched that to an 18-point advantage, 47-29, early in the second period.
Dakota Slaughter drilled a trey with 8:09 left to pull the Vaqueros to within 10, 57-47. Shayok answered with a jump shot and Martez Harrison drilled a 3 to start a 12-5 run and a 69-52 lead with 3:38 left.
Dan Kimasa led Texas-Rio Grande Valley (6-19, 2-8) with 17 points and six rebounds. Antonio Green added 12 for the Vaqueros who have lost six straight.
