STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Oregon State finally got a win away from home in a Pac-12 game, never trailing in a 62-50 victory at Stanford that ended more than a year of frustration on the road in conference games.
Tres Tinkle had 19 points to lead Oregon State, which won for just the second time at Stanford since 1993. The Beavers had lost 20 of their previous 21 games at Maples Pavilion, winning only in 2009.
The victory was the first for the Beavers in a conference road game since Jan. 17, 2015, snapping a streak of 10 straight road losses in Pac-12 play.
"We challenged our guys to turn it around, we've struggled on the road," Oregon State coach Wayne Tinkle said. "I said we can start tonight — this would be a great time to do that and start not a revolution, but maybe the evolution of our team on the road."
Gary Payton added 14 points and Malcolm Duvivier had 11 for Oregon State (15-8, 6-6 Pac 12), which has won three straight.
Rosco Allen scored 12 points and Grant Verhoeven had 10 to lead Stanford (11-11, 4-7), which lost its fourth straight.
"It just came down to not getting enough stops," Verhoeven said. "We gave up way too many 3s and way too many layups."
Oregon State opened the second half with an 11-4 run to build an 11-point lead, and a 3-pointer by Payton with 8½ minutes remaining made it 47-35. The Cardinal made a late run, scoring six straight points to pull within 51-46 with three minutes left, but Payton responded with a layup and Stanford never got closer than five points the rest of the game.
The Beavers led 33-29 at halftime after shooting better from beyond the 3-point line (6 of 12) than from inside the arc (6 of 14) in the first half. Duvivier had three of those 3-pointers and Tinkle had two.

Oregon State: The Beavers broke a five-game overall road losing streak, winning their first contest away from Corvallis since Nov. 21. ... Tinkle led the Beavers with nine rebounds.
Stanford: The Cardinal were playing at home for the first time in 19 days. During that stretch, they went 0-3 with double-digit losses at Colorado, Utah and California. ... The loss kept Stanford stuck on nine home wins this season. The next victory at Maples Pavilion will extend its streak to 23 straight seasons with at least 10 home wins.

Oregon State led for 39 minutes, 33 seconds of the game. The game was tied at 0-0 for the opening 15 seconds, and at 5-5 for 12 seconds.
PAYTON'S NIGHT
Payton, son of NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton, also had six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the game and put intense pressure on Stanford's ballhandlers all night. "He's probably one of the best two-way players in our conference," Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins said after the game. "He has long arms and such great anticipation. He's very disruptive defensively because he kind of roams everywhere in that zone."
BLOCK PARTY
Drew Eubanks had three blocks for the Beavers. The entire Stanford team had one.
