Kempton leads Lehigh to 87-72 win over Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. (AP) — Tim Kempton made 9 of 10 field-goal attempts and finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high three blocked shots to help Lehigh beat Lafayette 87-72 Monday night.

Jesse Chuku scored 18, on 7-of-10 shooting, Kahron Ross had 16 points with eight assists and Austin Price added 15 points, a career-best seven assists and five steals for Lehigh.

Kyle Leufroy, Chuku and Ross each hit 3s as the Mountain Hawks (9-14, 7-5 Patriot League) scored nine-straight points to take a 65-57 lead with 12:48 to play.

Zach Rufer made a 3-pointer to pull Lafayette (5-18, 2-10) within five, 73-68, about five minutes later, but Ross scored six during an 11-2 run that pushed Lehigh's lead to 17 points with a minute left.

The Mountain Hawks shot a season-high 57.1 percent from the field, including 12 of 24 from 3-point range.

Bryce Scott scored 19 and Matt Klinewski added 17 for Lafayette, which has lost seven in a row.
