Northern Arizona holds off Idaho with 72-70 victory

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Mike Green and Chris Yanku each scored 17 points as Northern Arizona held on to beat Idaho 72-70 on Saturday to snap a seven-game skid.

Marcus DeBerry hit a 3 to stretch the Lumberjacks' lead to 69-61 with 2:45 remaining. Idaho used a 6-0 spurt, but Yanku and Ako Kaluna each made one of two free throws to push Northern Arizona's (4-18, 2-9 Big Sky Conference) lead to 71-67 with 20 seconds left.

Idaho's Arkadiy Mkrtychyan converted a 3-point play with four seconds to go, but Torry Johnson answered with a free throw to make it a two-point game.

The Vandals' Pat Ingram then missed a 3-point attempt as time expired.

Mkrtychyan scored 15 points to lead Idaho (14-10, 6-5). Ty Egbert had 11 points, and Nate Sherwood finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Idaho held a 46-29 rebounding advantage.
