CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Jack Gibbs scored a career-high 41 points on 14-of-17 shooting with a career-high six 3-pointers, and Davidson beat cross-county rival Charlotte 109-74 Tuesday night to win the Hornet's Nest trophy.

Brian Sullivan scored 23 points, Peyton Aldridge 18 and Jordan Barham 14 for the Wildcats (5-0), who entered the game 4-0 for the first time since the 1978-79 season.

Nathan Ekwu had a career-high five blocks and Davidson scored 12 points off of 13 Charlotte turnovers.

The Wildcats never trailed, led 59-43 at halftime and pulled out to a 38-point lead with 13:01 left to play. Davidson outshot the 49ers 58 percent to 34 percent from the floor and made 15 of 29 3-pointers and 22 of 29 free throws.

The last time Davidson scored more than 100 points in a nonconference game was 111 against Montana on Dec. 10, 2014.

Bernard Sullivan led Charlotte (1-6) with 20 points, Ridell Camidge added 14, and Curran Scott 10.
