Rayson hits late FT, Central Michigan beats McNeese St 74-73

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Braylon Rayson made the second of two free throw attempts with 3 seconds left to give Central Michigan a 74-73 win over McNeese State on Monday night.

Central Michigan (3-3) was up 67-53 with 8:14 left in the game. Jarren Greenwood drove for a layup to start a 20-6 Cowboy run. A Jamaya Burr layup tied the game at 73 with 10 seconds left. Burr fouled Rayson, who made the needed free throw for the win. Burr launched a 3-point attempt as time expired but was off the mark.

Rayshawn Simmons, who averages 14.7 points a game, led the Chippewas with 16 points and dished out five assists. Rayson finished with 12 points and Luke Meyer added 11. Austin Stewart had eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Stephen Ugochukwu had 16 points, Craig McFerrin 15 and Lance Potier chipped in 12 for McNeese State (1-5).
