KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Tahjere McCall had 14 points and Tennessee State topped Kennesaw State 56-49 on Saturday.

McCall was just 3 of 9 from the floor, but made 7 of 10 from the line. Keron Deshields added 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting.

McCall's 3-pointer with 5:36 left in the first half put the Tigers up by seven, and then Tennessee State (4-2) closed the half with a 10-0 run to make it 32-17 at intermission.

Kennesaw State chipped away and got within five with 2:37 left after a 3-pointer by Yonel Brown, but Wayne Martin and Christian Griggs-Williams both made layups to keep the Owls down.

Kendrick Ray paced Kennesaw State (1-6) with 14 points. Brown, who averaged 18.5 points coming in, was 1 of 6 from the floor and finished with three points. The Owls were outrebounded 40-33.
