WASHINGTON (AP) — James Daniel drained a game-winning 3-pointer from near midcourt while scoring a career-high 39 points — his fourth game with 30 or more this season — as Howard defeated William & Mary 79-77 on Saturday, running its win streak to four.

The 5-foot-11 junior made 11 of 24 field-goal attempts, including four 3-pointers, and was 13 of 15 from the foul line for Howard (4-2).

Damon Collins buried a 3 from the corner with 25 seconds left, cutting William & Mary's lead to 77-76. The Tribe (4-2) missed free throws and Daniels brought the ball up court, waved off coach Kevin Nickelberry's call for a timeout, and swished the game-winner with three seconds remaining.

Connor Burchfield made all five of his 3-point shots and led William & Mary with 19 points. Omar Prewitt added 17 with 10 rebounds.

The Tribe outshot Howard but the Bison sank 23 of 30 free throws.
