HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP) — John Brown poured in 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds as High Point held off Morgan State, 82-72 Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers led by two, 39-37,at intermission but pulled away in the second half. High Point held a 74-59 lead with 5:19 left to play after Jorge Perez-Laham hit a 3-pointer, but Morgan State scored nine unanswered points to make it 74-68 with 3:13 left and Phillip Carr made it a five-point game, 75-70 with 2:19 left.

Lorenzo Cugini, who finished with 16 points, knocked down a 3-pointer to push the Panthers lead back to eight and Brown knocked down his final four free throws to put the game away.

Kyle Thomas led the Bears with 19 points and Clive Vaughn Jr. added 13 more off the bench. Carr and Andre Horne Jr. added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
