YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — James Thompson IV had 23 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, and Eastern Michigan raced to a 22-point halftime lead en route to a 79-63 win over NAIA Madonna on Saturday.

Thompson IV, a true freshman, now has back-to-back double-doubles for the Eagles (4-2) after scoring 32 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in a win over Marygrove on Wednesday. He shot 9 of 12 from the floor, and six of his 15 rebounds came on the offensive end.

Khalil Malone had 18 points for Madonna (3-9), hitting 6 of 10 from the field and 4 of 7 from behind the 3-point arc. Chris Dierker had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Eastern Michigan led by as many as 30 points in the second half, and the Eagles outrebounded the Crusaders 52-31.
