Jackson State overwhelms Savannah State 69-42

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Paris Collins scored 19 points with 7-for-14 shooting to lead Jackson State to a 69-42 win over Savannah State on Friday night.

Javeres Brent pumped in five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points for Jackson State (2-4), which shot 45 percent from the field and used a big second half to snap its three-game skid. Collins was 3 of 6 from long range, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists.

Trailing by three at the break, Jackson State took control in the second half with a 22-1 run that made it 50-33 and held Savannah State (3-3) to just 16 points after the intermission.

Savannah State controlled the boards 41-33 but hit just 27 percent of its 48 shots from the field and was four of 21 from behind the arc.

Chris Martin led Savannah State with 14 points and six rebounds.
