SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse quarterback Terrel Hunt has been denied an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA.
The university filed a waiver on Hunt's behalf seeking a sixth year of eligibility after his 2014 and 2015 seasons were cut short by injury.
Hunt broke a leg against Louisville in 2014 and missed the final seven games of the season. The senior returned for the 2015 opener against Rhode Island, but he was sidelined for the rest of the year after suffering an Achilles tendon injury midway through the first quarter.
Hunt played in 19 career games for the Orange and ranks 10th in team history with 2,621 passing yards. He accounted for 24 career touchdowns (11 passing, 13 rushing) and shares the Syracuse single-game record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback with 156 against Maryland in 2014.
