ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Sam Hughes scored 18 points to help UNC Asheville overtake Drexel for an 85-66 win in the opening round of the Great Alaska Shootout on Thursday night.

Ahmad Thomas and Dwayne Sutton added 14 points apiece, while David Robertson had 13 for UNC Asheville (2-3), which shot 47 percent from the floor and controlled the boards 35-29.

Trailing 38-34 at the break, Asheville opened the second half with a 14-2 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers by Robertson to retake the lead for good. A pair of free throws from Robertson with 9:56 left made it 60-50 and the margin never tightened below double digits again.

Drexel (0-4) shot 54 percent over the first 20 minutes but then went cold after the intermission, hitting just 8 of 27 from the field in the second half.

Terrell Allen led Drexel with 19 points on 7-for-10 shooting and Sammy Mojica added 16 points.
