BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Adrian Rodgers scored 20 points and Southern cruised past NAIA member Dillard 79-65 on Tuesday night.
Rodgers made four 3-pointers on 11 attempts, was perfect on six free throws, and added five rebounds. Trelun Banks had 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, Shawn Prudhomme chipped in 18 points and Chris Thomas had 12 points and eight boards. The Jaguars (3-1) were 10 of 30 from beyond the arc.
Demetric Austin led Dillard with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Montrey Thomas added 12 points and Dillard outrebounded Southern 48-37.
Dillard hung in early, but Rodgers' 3-pointer midway through the first put Southern up by six. Prudhomme's 3-pointer with 1:56 left in the first provided a 12-point cushion and Southern led 39-30 at intermission.
Dillard got as close as six in the second half, but the Bleu Devils were outmatched down the stretch.
