ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Chavaughn Lewis scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to propel 11th-seeded Marist to an 80-74 upset win over No. 6 Quinnipiac and become the highest-scoring player in program history in Thursday night's opening round of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship.

Lewis, who entered the game with 2,071 career points and needed seven more to beat the school record, got it midway through the first half with a 3-pointer that ignited a 14-0 run to give Marist the lead for good.

Marist plays third-seeded Manhattan on Saturday in the conference quarterfinal.

Khallid Hart contributed 18 points for Marist (7-24), which shot 52 percent from the field, including 13 of 19 from 3-point range.

Quinnipiac cut the gap to 50-49 with a 3-pointer from Dimitri Floras with 10:48 left, but Marist responded with back-to-back 3s from Manny Thomas and T.J. Curry to rebuild the advantage.

Ousmane Drame led Quinnipiac (15-15) with 27 points and 23 rebounds, both career highs.
