@Tuffcowgirl - Hardly. But, this wasn't the well-oiled machine that trounced UCLA last weekend. I think they boys had a bit of a let down. Good thing they stuck with it, though. Congrats on another shutout win, Cougs!
@TheMooseman - I don't think I would call this close or a let down. We scored almost at will after the first 2 drives. Defense, when what can you say 100-0 over the last 2 game.
@buyfan123 - wasn't as sharp as they were last week vs. UCLA. The defense played a big role in that final score, so the Cougs have some work to do over their 2 weeks before facing Mew Mexico.
I agree that 44-0 isn't a let down... I think the offense had a bit of a let down with the way they played today vs. last week.
@Lurkinlizard - When Wyoming was threatening to score they put the 1st string defense back in. That ought to make the 2nd string defense feel good. If they want to keep winning their 2nd string had better step it up.
@TheMooseman - Actual joy....not like the standard anti-depressant induced type you see every Sunday at church. It seems the only one who loses when the Cougars are victorious are the drug companies.
@M L. - But if you can read, I wrote "you see every Sunday"......"you see"....understand?
I only notice those zombies as I drive by on my way to do fun or productive things on Sunday.
@Johnny C. - Your the one calling us Zombies. Why can't I call you a pot head? You can dis on people and their dedication, then once someone throws it back at you, its "typical Utah thinking".
@What Me Worry - who did Utah play last year when the coaches got into it after the game? Wasn't it Wyoming? That's why I asked any birds flying?? Thanks for the input.

@Y_13-0_08 - it's too bad none of it matters. Maybe they'll run the table and beg their way into a consolation BCS game - a game that still won't matter.
I'm a fan but it kills me (and is slowly killing my interest in the program) that BYU can't play for a championship.
Cougar Defense really stepped it up this week - 2 defensive touchdowns! Way to go Cougs! You've earned the bye.
While I'm at it before anyone starts slamming and trashing the other D-1 teams around the state, my hats off to the Utes who found a way to win in Colorado against Air Force! That being said, good job to Utah State beating Idaho! Keep it up Ags!
@I Da Kuga - I'd love to see BYU and Utah both be undefeated going into the rivalry game in November. That would make for a great game and a nice springboard to the BCS for the Cougars (who, of course, will win).
A little love for the Aggies also. Those guys have had a rough couple of years-- glad to see them winning now and then again.
@Jay K. - They're doing very well considering the expectations. ESPN had Utah State dead last among Div. I schools before the games began. I hope they can stand up and get some more wins this year . . . just not their next game!
I didn't realize it included consecutive shutout games! That was awesome! Now just imagine if we could get shutouts against all of the rest of the games, I know, I'm dreaming, but that would be incredible!
Our close personal friends to the north came close to dropping one to the falcons. Props tp Kyle but we realy need them to go undefeated so Nov.22 means something. I am having my doughts that the Utes can get past TCU.
BYU will end up in the top 10. The Utes will stay put or drop a notch.
@Stuart C. - I believe Air Force had not lost going into the game.
It appears you do not know how to spell. I do not have any doubt that you are an idiot. Both BYU and Utah must play they way they are capable of playing in order to remain undefeated. The Goal is to make it into a BCS game. I hope both of them do. Perhaps you better go back to grade school and learn how to spell.
@Brad W. - 1. I am not your boy.....
2. I went to Stanford and Oxford thank you
3. I am not a whimp like you
4. Why don't you cuddle up to your boyfriend and
enjoy yourself.
@sklater - I am no ones slave, which is what is referred to by the use of the term "Boy!" I found it offensive. It is apparent to me that those who wrote it support the KKK. They must be some white Americans who do not know that slavery was abolished.
@Clive R. - Stanford isn't bad when they aren't getting high on something, but OXFORD???? I wouldn't be bragging on this website about that one when it comes to manliness.
@Clive R. - In addition to the "they way" error and the unnecessarily capitalized "Goal," the "Perhaps" changes the last sentence into the subjunctive, and the "you" should be changed to "you'd." "Best to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're an idiot, than to open it and remove all doubt." Clive, try a proof-reader until you can write at grade level.
@ . - Last I checked BYU was still a good 6 spots in front of Utah. So, way to go Utes! You are that much worse that BYU in the AP and Coaches opinions.
@Brad W. - What is it with your stereotyping? Out of all fans, i would think it would be the BYU fans that do not judge, after all yo are taught not to right, or is that only on Sunday?
The numbers dont lie, Byu has not been scored on in 8 quarters! I love the in studio analyist on the VS net work Roland Williams, he is one of the few analyists in the country giving BYU any credit for their success. He had nothing but praise during the UCLA game for the cougars; and even though this weeks game was UTAH vs AIR FORCE on VS he still talked about how BYU is a contender! I love that guy!
If BYU is not highly ranked in the BCS standings we, as BYU football fans, cannot blame anyone - except for Bronco. With a relatively weak conference we should use our out of conference games to play the best schools possible - not Northern Iowa and Utah State.
Bronco really burned our opportunities for a BCS bowl this year by picking bad teams to play against! Too bad because BYU has a killer team!
@Blue Football - ...you are a dork. I don't know what else to say. If BYU has a 12-0 record, they will go to a BCS bowl. I thought this was common knowledge, guess not.
@Blue Football - Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but there are a few things to consider:
1. Games are scheduled years in advance, and not just one at a time (home-to-homes).
2. Utah State is still a D-1 team that always puts up a decent fight since it's an in-state rival, with the exeption of the past few years of course. Plus, it's an inexpensive road game.
3. Northern Iowa was a last minute thing thanks to the Nevada Puppy Pack, who backed out on us at the last minute.
Over the next few years we have bigger names on the schedules, such as Arizona State, Washington, and Florida State.
That being said, even though we might not get a BCS berth this year, our boys will have a second chance next year because A) almost everyone will be back, B) the schedule is better, and C) Bronco has developed a consistent enough program that we'll have a good chance at starting in the Top 25 for Fall 2009 and to make another run at the BCS.
@Blue Football - Blue first you need to know that BYU's schedule was set prior to Bronco becoming the head coach, other than the Utah State pickup. Next the reason we played UNI was because Nevada dropped us last January, BYU was in a panic search to fill the spot and UNI was the only game they could get. Bronco had nothing too do with the scheduling this year.
@Blue Football - A lot have already mentioned that these schedules are made years in advance. Just a couple more notes on that:
- Five years ago, UCLA and Washington looked like high potential games.
- Nevada was probably scheduled with the intention of keeping some rivalry with the WAC, not a bad thing considering Boise State's track record.
- Utah State will keep hitting the schedule if for no other reason than to solidify in-state recruiting.
Other than just getting the best teams, these schools and conferences do need to consider the impact the games have on both recruiting and negotiations for other schools in the conference and recruiting.
This is a rather disingenuous comment. Northern Iowa was scheduled because another team backed out and it's difficult to schedule top opponents at the last minute. I think the Utah State game is kind of a responsibility for the instate teams. It's going to be tough for Utah State, but they do reap some financial rewards playing BYU and Utah. That to me is an honorable thing to do as the Utes did, to help your instate schools instead of getting a fat head and thinking your too good. Utah State may have second thoughts the way the Cougs are playing.
Notre Dame just got trounced by a mediocre Mich State team. C'mon, let's here your rants about strength of schedule, blah blah blah. C'mon, bring your weak sauce!
Does anybody know the record for combined quarterbacks used for a game? With SIX different quarterbacks playing that should be a record, on the other hand it was good to see the cougs dominate once again! I think Utah keeps getting lucky, they have way too many mistakes and are in for a shock when November comes!
I'm impressed with BYU's home game. Hopefully they can take their home game on the road and get some dominating wins on the road. I hope BYU and Utah can break into the BCS bowl game monoply this year.
Though I am extremely happy that BYU has done what they have so far. They are not going to make the BCS if they dont start trouncing these teams with a 60+points per game. The people who control the BCS are going to look at this. To them they will say BYU did good but a BCS team with that schedule would of done better.
I have to completley disagree with Bronco taking out so many starters when the score is only in the 30's and 40's. Watch what some of these other teams are doing to increase their value in the polls, they dont just win their games they anihilate them, starters are in the game almost until the end.
BYU does not have a BCS shedule, therefore they must absolutley kill their opponents by 60+ every game. After that is what the BCS people believe is what one of their BCS top teams would do with this schedule.
Both UCLA and WYO should have has more points to the victory. They take out there startes for most of the second half, instead of leaving them in for until the late 4th quarter.
And I dont want to hear no talk about they dont want players hurt or about running up the score. If they want thier chance at a BCS game they better step it up, prove to BCS controlors that they not only deserve a bid but BUT ABSOLUTELY WANT IT!
I wouldnt be suprised to see Penn ST pass BYU in the standing's after today. WHY? Penn went for the jugular on a BCS confrence team, while BYU just coasted to a vicotory over a NON-BCS team!
@Archer101 - The Utes went undeafted and barely got in. Then they only drew a disgustingly weak team in Pitt. When they won everyone inside Utah was saying yaaaa! But everyone outside was saying it was a mediocre team in Pitt. Do any of you want this for BYU? Or do want them in the BCS and actaully showing their skills against a true contender!
Here is what Utah did to barely squeak in, BYU better do twice if not 3 times better! To ensure recognition.
September 2 Texas A&M W 41-21 1-0 (0-0)
September 11 at Arizona W 23-6 2-0 (0-0)
September 18 at Utah State W 48-6 3-0 (0-0)
September 25 Air Force W 49-35 4-0 (1-0)
October 1 at New Mexico W 28-7 5-0 (2-0)
October 16 North Carolina W 46-16 6-0 (2-0)
October 23 UNLV W 63-28 7-0 (3-0)
October 30 at San Diego State W 51-28 8-0 (4-0)
November 6 Colorado State W 63-31 9-0 (5-0)
November 13 at Wyoming W 45-28 10-0 (6-0)
November 20 Brigham Young W 52-21 11-0 (7-0)
January 1 vs Pittsburgh W 35-7 12-0 (7-0)
@Archer101 - it was much harder for a team from a non BCS conference to get into the party. The requirements are much easier now (with an extra BCS game and a team now doesn't have to be ranked as high to qualify).
@sklater - Guys, guys, guys, let us not forget that BYU's road woes are only out of conference. Since the creation of the MWC BYU's all-time MWC Road record is 24-9(.727). That's better than their record at home which is 22-11(.667). BYU will be fine on the road in conference play.

Yeah, like drown your pathetic problems with alcohol and smoke weed because your running utes barely won against AF.
Have fun hugging your trees and banging on bongo drums. Gomer.

Just FYI, some people mask their problems with alcohol....other do it with religion. Strangely, both seem to have the same empty results.
