PROVO (AP) — Tyler Haws scored 27 points as BYU cruised to a 27-point second-half lead and beat Santa Clara 89-76 on Thursday night.

Haws - who entered the game as the nation's third-leading scorer - hit 9 of 12 from the field and scored more than 20 points for the fifth straight game. Haws has averaged 33.8 points per game over the last five contests.

Kyle Collinsworth added 18 points, Eric Mika had 15 and Skyler Halford had 12 for BYU (16-9, 8-4 West Coast Conference), which scored 53 first-half points and has now won eight of its last 10. BYU also held a 50-32 rebounding advantage, led by Mika with 10.

Brandon Clark and Jared Brownridge both scored 16 points apiece for Santa Clara (10-15, 3-9), which has now dropped seven straight.
