PROVO — The BYU offense picked up right where they had left off in Houston and dominated Boise State. The yardage totals aren't a fluke as the Cougars have been posting huge numbers for a few weeks in a row now.

BYU fans blinked, and suddenly the Cougars won five in a row, racking up giant totals on the offensive side of the ball in the process. Thanks, Taysom Hill.

Hill and his offense had 570 yards of production against Boise State in the first half and he looked even sharper as BYU finally got that monkey off its back and beat the Broncos for the first time ever. Thanks again, Taysom.

The 37-20 win was not just big, it was on a big stage, making it hard to ignore how good the Cougars are playing.

The Cougar defense was deep into its "bend not break" routine, giving up 468 yards of total offense, but also forcing four turnovers that stalled Boise State drives dead and resulted in 10 points for BYU. Sure, the Texas win might have been the biggest signature win for BYU this season, but this win means a lot more as BYU is playing its best football in a long time.

Boise State is in a position they haven't seen in a long time, snapping a 50-game win streak in the month of October and falling to 5-3 on the season. Their other two losses on the season came at Washington and at Fresno State.

After the game at midfield, BYU was officially invited to the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl with their sixth win of the year. While that's nice, coach Bronco Mendenhall noted that the toughest stretch of the season is still ahead with Wisconsin and Notre Dame looming on the road in the next month of play.
