The BYU Cougars released their post-spring depth chart on Wednesday. It was not surprising that sophomore Taysom Hill was named the Cougars' starting quarterback heading into the 2013 season.

Hill ran the first-team offense from the beginning of spring football; showing no ill-effects of the knee injury he suffered last October.

Here's the official release and depth chart from BYU...

BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall and his staff have released the team's depth chart following five weeks of spring practices which just concluded on Friday. The team wrapped up spring with a nearly 70-play scrimmage at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Alumni Day, giving many younger players a chance to shine and establish more depth while several of the expected starters were held out of action.

Among those listed on the top of the depth chart following spring practices is sophomore quarterback Taysom Hill, who shared the majority of the snaps with fellow sophomore Ammon Olsen. Both quarterbacks had productive results during spring practices.

"We have named Taysom the starter because of his game experience in 2012, strong leadership qualities and his breakaway speed and athleticism," Mendenhall said. "Ammon also had a phenomenal spring. I am confident in his ability. We have two very capable quarterbacks."

The post-spring depth chart does not include newcomers joining the team in fall camp. Many will come in expecting to compete for playing time. You can see the post-spring depth chart by going to pages 21-22 of the 2013 Spring Prospectus.
