DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - One fan stopped in his tracks as he lingered in the ARCA garage on an autograph hunt for series drivers.

"It's not every day you see The Hulk!"

Mark Ruffalo sure does have a knack for going green.

Ruffalo, star of "The Avengers," left the superhero makeup behind for Saturday's stop at Daytona International Speedway. Ruffalo teamed with driver Leilani Munter to promote a partnership with The Solutions Project, which is driven to accelerate renewable energy adoption in all 50 states.

Ruffalo was all smiles as he posed for pictures and signed autographs for fans _ even ones surprised to see a former Academy Award nominee among a garage full of drivers.

"I love the fans. I love people," Ruffalo said.

Ruffalo helped launch The Solutions Project in 2012 as part of his mission to share science that demonstrates the feasibility of renewable energy and prove the transition makes financial sense.

"I was living in an area that was starting to be hydrofracked and my community didn't want it," Ruffalo said. "I started to learn more about it and realized that it probably wasn't such a great idea seeing how we need water so much and clean air. I really didn't have a leg to stand on unless I could come up with an alternative was really viable. I went on a journey to find renewable energy."

Munter, who signed at Ruffalo's side, started 33rd in the No. 55 Go 100% Renewable Energy car for Saturday's race.

ARCA, a stock car series which has no affiliation with NASCAR, usually serves as a support race to the weekend show.

Ruffalo said he starts filming "Avengers: Age of Ultron" in April.

"They're all great. I can't wait to get going," he said.
