PITTSBURGH (AP) — Right-hander Nick Tepesch had his contract selected from Triple-A Oklahoma City by the Los Angeles Dodgers and will start Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Outfielder Will Venable was designated for assignment to clear a spot for Tepesch on the 40-man roster.

The 27-year-old Tepesch won all three starts for Oklahoma City while compiling a 2.00 ERA. He began the season with the Texas Rangers' Triple-A Round Rock farm club, going 4-2 with a 4.11 ERA in 11 starts before being released.

Friday will mark Tepesch first major league appearance since Sept. 26, 2014, when he started and lost for the Rangers against the Oakland Athletics. He sat out last season while recovering from surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome.

Tepesch pitched in 42 games for the Rangers in 2013-14, including, 39 starts, and had a 9-17 record and a 4.56 ERA.
