TORONTO (AP) — Toronto Blue Jays infielder Devon Travis left Tuesday night's game against Philadelphia after two innings with a sore left shoulder.
Travis missed 36 games earlier this season after he injured his left shoulder when he was hit by a bad hop grounder in an April 30 game at Cleveland. The injury affected his swing, causing him to bat .189 in 53 at-bats in May after batting .325 in April, when he was named AL Rookie of the Month.
Travis hit his second career leadoff homer against Phillies starter Adam Morgan to give Toronto a 1-0 lead but he appeared to injure himself on a swing while striking out to end the second inning. He came out to take his position for the third but walked off after consultation with manager John Gibbons and trainer George Poulis.
Danny Valencia moved from left field to second base, with Ezequiel Carrera coming on to play left.
