BALTIMORE (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have claimed catcher Ryan Lavarnway off waivers from the Chicago Cubs.

Lavarnway played in 10 games with the Boston Red Sox in 2014, going hitless in 10 at-bats. He also hit .283 in 62 games with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Lavarnway was claimed off waivers by the Cubs last week from Boston. In 97 career games, he has a .201 batting average with five home runs.

To clear room for Lavarnway on the 40-man roster, the Orioles released outfielder Quintin Berry.
