Allow us a personal indulgence with today's editorial, mainly because we're excited, as a company, about an innovative approach to news and information programming that's getting underway this week on KSL Newsradio.

It's called the KSL Nightside Project.

"Nightside" because the program will air each evening, Monday thru Friday, from 7 to midnight on 1160 AM and 102.7 FM. And "Project" because it's something new.

It is news, information and talk aimed at a younger audience. It will be produced and delivered by people mainly in their 20's, generally without a lot of experience in radio or journalism or life. The idea is to turn them loose to report on the stories their generation is interested in. They'll be talking about currents events from their perspective. They'll explore what Generations X and Y think about war, the economy and a myriad of everyday happenings.

Why do it? Because the world is changing! Attitudes, especially among the young, are being shaped by influences that in many ways are alien to older generations. The news at 6 and 10 and "every hour on the hour" is less viable in this age of limitless information sources, text messaging, and blogging.

The KSL Nightside Project is offered as an option. We hope you'll give it a try.
