WASHINGTON (AP) — The House intelligence committee has asked a former Trump White House staffer for information in connection with its probe into Russian interference in the election. Boris Epshteyn confirmed Tuesday that he had been contacted, saying in a statement that the committee had asked him to volunteer information.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has been handing out his cellphone number to world leaders and urging them to call him directly, an unusual invitation that breaks diplomatic protocol and is raising concerns about the security and secrecy of presidential communications. Trump has urged leaders of Canada and Mexico to reach him on his cellphone, according to a former and a current U.S. official with direct knowledge of the practice. The White House did not respond to questions about the practice.

NEW YORK (AP) — U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is making an impassioned appeal for the world to tackle climate change and implement an international accord aimed at reducing carbon emissions. The U.N. chief's message in a speech at New York University appeared especially aimed at U.S. President Donald Trump who says he will decide this week whether the United States will withdraw from the 2015 Paris Agreement.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Authorities believe a gunman reported at the Orlando International Airport was attempting to commit "suicide by cop." Orlando Police Chief John Mina said during a news conference Tuesday night that 26-year-old Michael Wayne Pettigrew's gun had actually been a replica firearm. Officers who responded to the airport's car rental area earlier that evening said Pettigrew was trying to get officers to shoot him.

SHANGHAI (AP) — A man investigating working conditions at a Chinese company that produces Ivanka Trump-brand shoes has been arrested and two others are missing, according to the arrested man's wife and an advocacy group. China Labor Watch Executive Director Li Qiang says he lost contact with the men over the weekend. The group was planning to publish a report next month alleging low pay, excessive overtime and the possible misuse of student interns at the company.
