A French official says a man believed to have helped secure a hideout for the Paris attacks planner, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, has been taken into custody.
The official, who requested anonymity to talk about the ongoing investigation, said Tuesday the 25-year-old man is believed to have been an intermediary with Jawad Bendaoud, who is the only person facing preliminary charges in France in the attacks.
Before his arrest, Bendaoud acknowledged in a live television interview providing housing for Abaaoud, but denied knowing they were linked to the Nov. 13 attacks. He described the transaction as "a favor." Abaaoud, his female cousin and an unidentified man died in a police raid at Bendaoud's apartment on Nov. 18.
The official did not provide details on the new arrest.

The European Union's counter-terrorism coordinator believes the Islamic State group is resorting to attacks abroad because it is hurting from coalition airstrikes.
Apart from the Nov. 13 massacres in Paris, the group has also launched attacks in Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt's Sinai in recent weeks and De Kerchove says that it appears to be changing strategy.
Gilles De Kerchove told EU lawmakers on Tuesday that "the pressure of the coalition airstrikes ... in Raqqa and around Raqqa maybe forced them to seek successes abroad."
He said: "Is this a sign of weakness? I believe so."
The city of Raqqa in northern Syria is the group's headquarters and a focus of an air campaign by Russia and a U.S.-led coalition including France.
