BEIRUT (AP) — Two Syrian activist groups say government airstrikes on opposition-held towns near the Jordanian border have killed at least 16 people, including five children.

The Local Coordination Committees activist collective and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say the air raids hit three towns in the southern province of Daraa on Sunday.

Both activist groups say at least eight people were killed in the town of Dael, half of them children. The strikes also killed six people in Karak Sharqi, including a child, and two people in Tafas.

They say dozens of people were wounded.
