JINDO, South Korea (AP) — The task of recovering bodies from the submerged South Korean ferry is proceeding more quickly, with the official death toll now reaching 150.
But a government official says divers now have to rip through cabin walls in order to retrieve more victims.
Even with 150 people still missing, the funeral halls are already full in Ansan, the community near Seoul where more than 300 of the passengers were attending high school. A government task force is directing mourning families to funeral homes in nearby cities.
Of the 22 crew members who survived, 11 have now been arrested or detained. A prosecutor says two were arrested today. The captain and two others who were arrested Saturday are suspected of negligence and abandoning people in need.
