Kerry in Afghanistan for urgent security talks

The future of U.S. involvement in Afghanistan after the last troops leave at the end of 2014 may depend on whether U.S. officials like Secretary of State John Kerry can allay Afghan President Hamid Karzai's worries about sovereignty, Pakistan and the safety of Afghan citizens at the hands of Western troops.

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife passed another hurdle Friday in their plans to tear down their 1936 beachfront home in San Diego's affluent La Jolla (HOY'-uh) community and build an 11,000-square-foot mansion in its place.

Politicians unsure when gov't shutdown will end

Meetings at the White House have continued in an effort to resolve the government shutdown, but Utah Republicans aren't sure when the shutdown will end.
