02/14/2014 2:41pmIn a follow-up story Feb. 10 to an Associated Press investigation into sexual assault cases involving U.S. military service members in Japan, the AP reported that Lt. Gen. Salvatore Angelella, commander of U.S. Forces Japan, took questions submitted in advance at a news conference but did not respond to the AP's question. An outside moderator chose which questions to ask and did not pose the AP's. The AP also submitted the question directly to U.S. Forces Japan, and after the news conference, a spokesman reissued a statement Angelella had provided for the original story as the official response.
