OREM, Utah (AP) — The Utah Valley University is set to make changes to protect its transgender students and set restrictions on protests and demonstrations.
The Daily Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2rWfL1U ) the university's Board of Trustees will vote on changes to a policy that deals with discrimination, harassment and affirmative during its Thursday meeting. The proposed new version of the policy would add "gender expression" as a protected group. The change is expected to protect transgender students from harassment and discrimination.
The board will also vote on two other policies that would restrict protests and demonstration from indoor spaces such as classrooms and laboratories or areas where minors or "vulnerable populations" are present. Protesters would also be prohibited from wearing masks or disguises if the protest seems to be dangerous.
