SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Latest on the legal woes of an anti-abortion group that made secret video recordings (all times local):
11:35 a.m.
A federal appeals court in San Francisco has blocked an anti-abortion group from releasing recordings made at meetings of an abortion providers' association.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday upheld a lower-court ruling stopping the Center for Medical Progress from airing videos it recorded at National Abortion Federation gatherings.
The Center for Medical Progress previously released several secretly recorded videos that it said showed Planned Parenthood employees selling fetal tissue for profit. Planned Parenthood said the videos were deceptively edited to support false claims.
It's not clear what's on the bulk of the unreleased recordings, but center leader David Daleiden said in a statement that they show Planned Parenthood leadership discussing criminal conduct. He called the 9th Circuit decision an attack on the First Amendment.
Daleiden and another group leader, Sandra Merritt, were charged Tuesday with recording people without their permission.
