GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (AP) — A passenger in a getaway car has been charged with attempted murder after firing at a South Carolina state trooper, authorities said.
Paul Anthony Walker fired a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol out the window as Trooper Chris West tried to stop the driver on February 10, according to the State Law Enforcement Division.
Another passenger who fired shots at West has also been charged, state police said Thursday.
Authorities say Walker and several others were headed south on Interstate 77 in Fairfield County, fleeing a robbery in Waxhaw, North Carolina, with the trooper in pursuit.
Walker, 20, of Goose Creek, is jailed on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
