CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A winter storm dumped up to a foot of snow in parts of central, east-central and southern Wyoming, closings highways and schools.

The National Weather Service has posted a winter storm warning for areas that include Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Riverton, Rock Springs and Sheridan. A blizzard warning was posted for parts of south-central Wyoming, including Rawlins.

Casper, Wheatland, Douglas and Torrington each received about a foot of snow or more.

A 200-mile stretch of Interstate 80 between Rock Springs and Laramie was closed Thursday, and no unnecessary travel was advised on sections of I-25 in the Casper area. Many other highways in central, east-central and southeast Wyoming also were closed.
