SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Former Utah governor and Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman says he won't decide if he'll run for U.S. Senate in 2018 until incumbent Sen. Orrin Hatch decides if he'll run again.
Huntsman told KUTV (http://bit.ly/2i0pc9W ) because Hatch is a sitting senator "we owe it to him to let him make a decision." Huntsman wouldn't say if he would still run against Hatch if the senator decides to pursue an eighth term.
Hatch said four years ago that his current term would be his last but he know says he will consider a re-election big because he says he'd being encouraged to run again.
Other Republicans who've said they may consider a run include U.S. Rep. Chris Stewart, former CIA agent and independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin and World Trade Center Utah leader Derek Miller.
