LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas is under heat wave and air quality warnings as the hottest month of the year comes to a close.
The Clark County Department of Air Quality on Wednesday extended an air quality advisory through Friday.
Concerns about elevated levels of ozone and smoke have been noted since Monday, as smoke from wildfires in California clouded the skies over southern Nevada.
Authorities said there aren't currently unhealthy levels of pollution but that the conditions could aggravate those with sensitive respiratory issues.
The National Weather Service on Wednesday also issued the excessive heat warning through 11 p.m. Thursday.
Highs are expected to up to 113 degrees with lows in the 90s in the Las Vegas valley.
