NEW YORK (AP) — A large diamond engagement ring that Donald Trump gave his second wife has sold for $300,000 at a New York City auction.

The 7.45-carat emerald-cut, Harry Winston-designed ring is about the size of a postage stamp. It was bought on Wednesday by an anonymous phone bidder.

Actress and TV personality Marla Maples had sold the ring at auction for $110,000 after she and Trump divorced in 1999.

The American couple who bought it asked the same auctioneer, Joseph DuMouchelle (doo-moo-SHEL'), to sell it.

DuMouchelle says he's thrilled the ring sold for its estimated price and he hopes the new owner will enjoy the "rarity of its beauty."

Trump and Maples were married in 1993 in a lavish ceremony at The Plaza hotel.
