CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Cedar City has a new chief of police.
The Spectrum of St. George reports (http://bit.ly/28U5Qid) that Officer Darin Adams was named the new chief Friday.
A 19-year veteran of the department, Adams was chosen after current Police Chief Robert Allinson announced he would retire June 30.
Adams was chosen out of four in-house candidates after an interview Tuesday with the Cedar City mayor.
The Cedar City Council then approved the promotion.
Adams was born and raised in Cedar City.
He worked for an ambulance service for 12 years before joining Cedar City police in 1997.
