COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Department of Education has eliminated fees for teaching licenses for military veterans and for active-duty service members and their spouses.
The department says in an announcement this past week the change is to recognize the contributions of military families.
Eligible veterans must have honorable discharges. Current service members from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, the National Guard and Reserve, and the Ohio Military Reserve or Ohio Naval Militia and their spouses are also eligible.
The waived fees apply to any initial Ohio educator license, permit or certificate as well as to renewals. The department says it has also streamlined the licensure process for teachers involved in the military.
Veterans may also seek reimbursement for education testing through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
