LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles man who allegedly opened fire on people at random, killing five people and wounding 11 others, has been ordered to stand trial for murder.
City News Service says Alexander Hernandez was ordered Wednesday to face 31 counts, including 11 counts of attempted murder.
Prosecutors haven't decided whether to seek the death penalty.
Authorities say the 36-year-old Sylmar man was involved in a deadly series of shootings from March through August 2014 in the San Fernando Valley.
Many victims were shot in cars, driving home from work, or heading to church or other activities. One man was killed while standing in a parking lot, and a teenager was shot in his car and paralyzed after dropping off his girlfriend after their high school prom.
