SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — The Latest on the house fire in Syracuse that has killed six members of the same family (all times local):
5:55 p.m.
A Syracuse couple says they lost four grandchildren, a son and a nephew in a predawn house fire on the city's north side.
Lawrence and Phyllis Anderton tell the Syracuse Post-Standard (http://bit.ly/24Cl14c ) their 33-year-old son Kevin Anderton Sr. called them early Friday after he discovered his home had been engulfed in flames. They say Kevin's children, 13-year-old Kevin Jr. and 7-year-old Cassie, had died, and his wife, Colleen, survived and was hospitalized.
The Andertons say their other son, 34-year-old Gordon Anderton, also died, along with his children, 12-year-old Lawrence and 10-year-old Jacob.
Lawrence Anderton says his 33-year-old nephew, William Yager, also died.
Fire officials earlier released the ages of the victims but not their names.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze and where it started.

Officials say two men, a 7-year-old girl and three boys aged 10-13 have died in a pre-dawn house fire in Syracuse.
Syracuse Fire Department Lt. Joe Galloway told media at the scene that a 32-year-old woman escaped the fire early Friday and was taken to a hospital. He also says a 33-year-old man who lived there wasn't home at the time the fire broke out shortly before 4 a.m.
Names weren't released. Galloway says the two men who died were 33 and 34 years old.
Galloway says investigators are trying to determine the cause and point of origin of the blaze at the two-story single-family home.
According to assessment records, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was built in 1920.

School district officials say four students are among the six people who were killed when a pre-dawn fire tore through a family's Syracuse home.
Michael Henesey, spokesman for the Syracuse City School District, says Friday that the victims include "four of our students." He didn't provide other information, including the students' gender, ages or what grade they were in.
Fire officials say the blaze was reported around 3:50 a.m. Friday at a home on the city's north side. When firefighters arrived, the front of the two-story house was engulfed in flames. They eventually found two bodies downstairs and four others upstairs.
WSTM-TV, which first reported that students were among the victims, says the school district's crisis-response team is being made available to classmates and staff.

A woman says she heard what sounded like an explosion before a home in her Syracuse neighborhood went up in flames, killing six members of the same family.
Sebira Pehlic tells The Syracuse Post-Standard (http://bit.ly/1WNF398 ) that she "heard a boom" about an hour after returning home from work at 3 a.m. Friday. When she looked out a window she saw smoke and flames coming from a house four doors away.
Pehlic says the fire spread quickly. A photo she took that was posted on the newspaper's website shows the entire front of the home engulfed in flames.
Syracuse Fire Chief Paul Linnertz told Time Warner Cable News that all six victims were related. A seventh person was injured and is hospitalized.
The fire, reported around 3:50 a.m., is under investigation.

Officials say firefighters were attempting to enter the front of the burning two-story home when the porch roof collapsed, forcing them to retreat. The flames were put out about 30 minutes later.
When firefighters entered the home, they found two bodies downstairs and four others upstairs. Syracuse Fire Chief Paul Linnertz told Time Warner Cable News that all six victims were related.
A seventh person was able to escape and has been taken to a hospital.
No other information has been released.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
