GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — The Campbell County School District is predicting it will lose about 200 to 250 students between the end of this school year and the start of the 2016-17 academic year in the fall.

The Gillette News Record reports (http://bit.ly/26Wwv4y ) that Superintendent Boyd Brown said on Tuesday that between job losses and a struggling economy, the district is going to see a drop in enrollment.

The district will know exactly how many students it lost when school begins again in August.

Brown said if enrollment drops by 200 to 250 students, the district will lose about $600,000 in its annual school funding model for the 2017-18 school year.

So far this school year, 205 students, or more than 2 percent, have left the school district between October and April.
