LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County School District is looking to fill more than 2,000 open teaching positions with an accelerated teacher training program for military veterans and their spouses.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1VFwNZS ) that the district is hosting a pilot program on Saturday that helps former servicemen and women get a job and also helps fill some of the district's open positions.

Officials say anyone who will finish their military commitment by January 2017 who has a bachelor's degree in any subject can apply for state-approved, fast-track teacher training programs.

The district is also looking to fill about 400 support staff positions including bus drivers, electricians, substitute teachers, police and safety officers.
