BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho man authorities say died after pointing a handgun at two deputies who opened fire has been identified as 53-year-old Lee Easter of Boise.
The Ada County Coroner's Office released the name Friday but listed the cause of death and manner of death as pending. A statement says Easter was pronounced dead after an officer-involved shooting.
The Ada County Sheriff's Office says a man called dispatchers just before 11 p.m. Thursday and told them someone was in the house and hung up.
Deputies arrived and found the door ajar and yelled inside, then went in to investigate. The deputies heard someone upstairs and yelled for him to come down. Police say the man came down pointing a handgun at the deputies. Easter died at the scene.
The shooting is under investigation.
